*JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES*
Under the direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) works independently to perform the more complex and difficult professional duties in the Accounts Payable-Encumbrance Unit (APE) relating to the audits, payments, and reconciliation of encumbrances and invoices in accordance with Government Codes, State Administrative Manual (SAM), Department procedures, and the Prompt Payment Act.
Serving as one of the leads in the unit, the incumbent reviews and analyzes Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) financial reports and liaise with other units in the Accounting office to identify and resolve encumbrances and payment procedure problems.

The incumbent works 40 hours per week in an office setting with artificial light and temperature control.
Daily access to, and use of, a personal computer and telephone is essential.
The position requires extensive data entry.
DIR offers a hybrid telework option for this position to work up to three days from home.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for remote-centered hybrid telework up to three days per week; the other two days per week are in the Sacramento office for hands-on training and team meetings.
The office is close to public transportation, restaurants, and shopping.
