The hiring range for this opportunity is $110,000 - $150,000 annually along with incentive opportunities, creating a competitive total compensation package based on our pay scale, and may be modified by location and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
POSITION SUMMARY This position assists the Bank's Controller and/or Financial Reporting Manager and/or Treasurer, as backup position and performs various accounting and finance functions.
In addition, may be responsible for the direct supervision of certain accounting staff.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES • Serves as backup for the Controller/Financial Reporting Lead position(s) and assists various other positions in the Bank's accounting and finance function to include but not specifically limited to the Treasurer.
• Prepares and assists in the preparation of various regulatory and internal financial reports, including monthly board reports, quarterly FDIC and SEC reports, annual report to shareholders, and the ESOP/401k financial statements.
• Supervises and / or lends expertise to accounting staff.
• Responsible directly for: - The tracking, reporting, accounting and regulatory filings related to the Company’s equity compensation grants.
- Accounting and reporting requirements relating to investment securities and alternative investments such as those relating to CRA and/or LIHTC matters - Tracking adequacy of investment collateral for deposit and borrowing programs • Assists in income tax accounting matters.
• Assists in ensuring that internal controls are documented and accumulated as necessary for compliance with SOX 404.
• Assists more experienced AFR personnel with the identification, analysis and implementation of new accounting standards.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES • Maintains a current understanding of Board approved policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, Suspicious Activity Reporting, OFAC, Information Security Guidelines, and GLBA-Privacy.
• Serves as a resource on issues related to internal controls and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Work with the Controller and CFO on an annual basis to identify applicable training (technical, leadership and supervisory courses) which contribute to the growth and development of the AFR team.
• Other tasks and projects as requested and supervised by the CFO, Controller, Financial Reporting Manager, or Treasurer.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED • Undergraduate degree in accounting required, graduate degree or CPA preferred.
• Five or more years in accounting with a financial institution, or within a public accounting firm with some financial institution engagement experience preferred.
• Thorough understanding of financial and management accounting and internal control principles.
• Experience in internal, SEC and FDIC regulatory reporting requirements preferred.
• Thorough understanding of bond accounting that may be associated with the purchase, sale or holding of various forms of investment securities.
• Advanced spreadsheet skills, understanding of Excel macros preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel (likely less than 20% of total time commitment) and flexibility to work various hours towards the completion of various tasks and internal or statutory deadlines.
• Strong analytical and reasoning ability.
• Exposure to merger and acquisition accounting preferred.
• Ability to work and complete tasks with little supervision and/or in collaboration with other team members.
