*Job Description and Duties*
Are you an accounting professional with a passion for wildlife conservation? Consider joining the Accounting Service Branch team as we support the programs carrying out the mission of the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Under general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Accounting Officer (Specialist) performs professional accounting duties related to review, analyze, and approve vouchers for Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB) in Financial Information System for the State of California (FI$Cal) to ensure costs are allowable and appropriate.
Interpret and apply appropriate rules and regulations governing contracts and accounts payable.
Research and analyze vendor accounts to ensure they are paid in accordance with the State Administrative Manual (SAM).
Prepare/submit claim schedules per request, and create catchup entries in FI$Cal.
Prepare, analyze, and reconcile cash transfer letters to be submitted to the State Controller’s Office (SCO).
Process direct transfers.
Resolve various payment and vendor problems such as claim cut and voucher/claim schedule errors.
Process deposits.
Headquartered in our new high-rise building located in downtown Sacramento, this position has the opportunity of being eligible for remote centered hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California.
The new Natural Resources Building is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare.
In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam:

*Working Conditions*
Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day.
Daily use of a computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
Standard office environment.
Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.
Work with staff statewide to complete work assignments.
Attend meetings and hearings.
Occasional travel may be required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.
e.
, automobile, airplane, etc.
).
Travel may include an overnight stay.
Overtime required and limited time-off during the year-end Financial Statement period.
