With the guidance of the unit management team (Director, Laboratory manager, Application Developer, Project lead), oversees financial interactions and works with unit leadership to manage finances of the unit.
Applies professional concepts and procedures towards financial and resource planning and budget control.
Prepares basic budgetary analyses and forecasts for internal and limited external constituents, maintains department chart of accounts, and manages financial transactions.
Works with unit management team to develop and implement financial strategies, including but not limited to exploring alternative business models and pricing; developing competitive marketing strategies; managing and elevating the center’s brand equity; and envisioning organizational and business process improvements to ensure unit financial stability.
Serves as an adhoc liaison to the administrative offices in the School of Veterinary Medicine’s Dean’s Office and campus.

Work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
Assignments may change frequently depending on an assessment of overall department needs.
Restricted vacation during peak workload periods.
This position may require the employee to work in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present; occasional sample handling may be required; gloves, lab coats, and other necessary personal protective equipment will be provided by CPL.

Skills to accurately organize, plan, coordinate, and set priorities effectively depending on unit needs; multi-task and adapt to changing priorities on multiple projects.
Accurate written and verbal communication skills to communicate with diverse individuals and groups about financial budget matters using strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with team members and clients.
Knowledge of and ability to work effectively within the campus financial system (Aggie Enterprise/Oracle Cloud Financials).
Ability to manage a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for an academic medical diagnostic laboratory.
Compliant and familiar with the University’s best practices regarding all social media platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Substantial familiarity with campus and University-wide policies; specifically in a self-supporting recharge department.
Familiarity with campus procedures in administrative matters; in-depth knowledge of principles, policies, and procedures as they relate to financial/budgetary matters in a higher education setting; familiarity with fund accounting methods; and, proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
Skills and ability in fiscal administration in an academic medical diagnostic laboratory including, accounting and budget development, resource assessment, purchasing, client relations, and inventory tracking.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment, while possessing exceptional interpersonal skills, handling diverse situations with thoughtfulness and tact.
Successful candidates will demonstrate adaptability in communication; a commitment to continuous improvement; and, a positive attitude that aligns with unit culture of excellence and collaboration.
