Organizational Cost Consultant

Organizational Cost Consultant Location: Sacramento, CA Onsite Salary: $100-170k Sabot Consulting is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Organizational Cost Consultant to conduct a current-state assessment of a large state-run cost management practice for Pension and Administrative.
Curating expenses and documenting current practices in a baseline report then performing a gap analysis against best-in-class cost management practices and providing recommendations to improve existing practices.
Responsibilities: Prior to beginning the current-state assessment, the project team will provide a detailed project plan to Financial Planning, Accounting, & Reporting senior management that will include deliverable dates and key milestones to be approved prior to beginning fieldwork.
Consolidate all current-state information and materials and develop illustrative and visual content to augment and enhance gathered materials and create a document describing the current state.
Provide excerpts or usable content for other publications, reports and presentations referencing cost management practices, as a reference document that can be provided to business partners, vendors, auditors and others who may have a need to better understand cost management practices.
Become an information source for the development of training and/or onboarding content.
Establish a baseline against which industry best practices can be compared and recommendations can be made to enhance cost management practices.
Evaluate the cost management processes, tools, analytics, reporting and governance structures that currently make up the organization and identify gaps and improvement opportunities relative to industry standards, peer organizations and best-in-class firms.
Compare the current-state assessment initiatives, and provide recommendations based on best practices that will be applicable to business operations and environment.
Must Have: Provided a gap analysis report: The report will include the current state, ideal future state, and the identified gap(s).
Provided a report that identifies recommendations for improvement that will be tailored to business operations and environment.
Provided updates and presented findings and recommendations to various stakeholder groups within the organization.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Master's degree preferred.
Proven experience in cost analysis, financial planning, or management consulting.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and draw actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients and internal teams.
Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and cost optimization techniques.
Nice to have: Certification in Cost Management or Management Accounting (e.
g.
, CMA, CPIM) is a plus.
Experience working with ERP systems (e.
g.
, SAP, Oracle) and financial software applications.
Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, compliance standards, and cost control methodologies.
Demonstrated track record of successfully implementing cost-saving initiatives and driving measurable results.
