*JOB SUMMARY:*Responsible for the timely preparation or review of the monthly journal entries and the reconciliation of accounts and related schedules.
This is a non-supervisory position reporting to the Accounting Manager.
Duties include performing a variety of accounting task, applying generally accepted accounting principles in the preparation and maintenance of accounting and other records, and preparing financial, statistical, and/or technical reports.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\*:* * Prepare & input journal entries (adjusting and recurring) for general accounts including payroll, benefits, and tax provision.
* Participate in month-end close activities including review of general & miscellaneous entries.
* Prepare or review monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled with resolution to reconciling items.
* Assist manager in the preparation of standalone and consolidated monthly financials and elimination journal entries.
* Responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and provide explanations for certain account variances.
* Responsible for the property tax process including accruals and amortizations.
* Responsible for intercompany activity which includes reconciliation and confirmation of account balances.
* Review and preparation of state sales use tax and filings.
* Processing of seed sales reporting and business license renewals.
* Responsible for certain compliance questionnaires and filings with Census Bureau.
* Prepare audit work schedules for assigned areas of responsibility and support manager with auditor requests.
* Assist manager in the documentation of internal controls, processes, and procedures for JSOX compliance * Performs various daily routine responsibilities and assist in special projects, as needed.
*REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:* * Working knowledge of accounting practices; strong technical accounting background; ability to perform and review journals with detail and accuracy; and ability to prepare financial and other records in a systematic, accurate, and legible manner.
* Strong Excel skills and must be able to utilized/manipulate programs to create spreadsheets, charts, and merge program data.
* Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
* Highly motivated team player: self-starter, organized, and detail oriented; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and other employees of the company; and be able to work independently and on a team environment * Ability to manage stress when working on special projects, deadlines and/or high workload.
*EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:* * Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
* CPA license preferred *EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:* * 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience with general ledger experience.
* MS Excel Proficient; Familiarity with MS D365 is a plus *WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* * Must be able to sit and work at a computer terminal and on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
* Must be able to work under strict time constraints and requirements.
