Specialty (industrial use) thermometer w/ mercury, 18" in length - $65 (Grass Valley)

Am moving soon and this unique item is still in its original specialized packaging material from the manufacturer, Walter H.
Kessler, Inc.
I contacted them and provided this information on the packing material, as shown, and obtained a recent quote from them, (see the pic) for $200 -- although they informed me they can no longer ship mercury thermometers to California.
And this one does have an appx.
1" mercury tip as you can see in the photos.
NOTE: handwriting on the mailing tube is mine (was just assuming its use).

1C TOTAL IMM SAFETYBLUE This was purchased by a late family member so I'm afraid all I know is the info contained on the packing material, again, this manufacturer's thermometers are so specialized they have to be individually quoted.
I'm assuming this was to be used for home brewing or distilling of spirits but the person who bought it had an extensive electronics background with a wide range of interests so I'm just not sure what its intended use was to be.
He always researched extensively for any sort of a specialty purchase along these lines.
