Bus Aide (Transportation)

Responsibilities: *POSITION DESCRIPTION: Supervises passengers on board the bus, particularly those with special behaviors, to insure their safety while riding the bus; may also assist with boarding/de-boarding passengers as directed.
* *This is a Full-Time* *position with benefits, approximately 33 to 40 hours a week.
This position is a split shift, Monday thru Friday.
The approximate hours are (6:30am to 10:30am and 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
) A DOT/FBI background check and drug test will be required upon employment.
* The Transportation Office is located at 2501 Florin Road (Located inside the Paratransit Building).
All applicants must be able to pass a DOT Drug screen and background check upon hire.

* *PROGRAM: Transportation* - Assist the bus driver in maintaining a safe and orderly environment for students during transportation.
- Ensure that students are seated and wearing seat belts properly.
- Monitor student behavior and address any issues or concerns that arise.
- Communicate with the bus driver and school staff regarding any incidents or changes in student behavior.
- Provide support to students with special needs, including assisting with mobility devices and communication devices.
- Educate students on bus safety rules and procedures.
Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
