The Cordova Recreation & Park District is seeking a fun and energetic recreation leader to join the HYDE Out After School Teen Program! Working under general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the recreation leader will supervise teens ages 12-17 in the after-school program, the HYDE Out.
The program features daily activities including enrichment activities, interactive games and sports.
Updated wage range, effective 1/1/2024: $16.

) The program follows the Folsom Cordova Unified School District calendar.
Must be willing and able to work some evenings and holidays.
Class SummaryWorking under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor II and the Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Leader I is responsible for the direct supervision of participants in the program.
Incumbents are required to supervise and lead activities for middle and high school students and perform opening/closing duties of the facility.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES The following duties are typical for this classification.
Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices: Supervises participants and/or leads activities, including but not limited to arts and crafts, group sports/games, special events and other recreational program and activities both indoors and out.
Assist with planning daily activities; prepare the room or space for program each day; plan and execute recreation program components of the daily schedule related to area of assignment.
Promote and enforce safety procedures; render first aid and CPR, if certified, as required.
Provide customer service and interpersonal skills during public contact and assist with any questions, conflicts, and phone calls.
Issue and collect recreation equipment and supplies to program participants; provide assistance in setting up for various program activities.
Perform opening and closing duties of a specific program or facility as necessary; report any problems or concerns to assigned supervisor.
Prepare and maintain accurate program and other records as needed.
Inventory and ensure orderliness of program equipment, supplies, and storage area; perform general maintenance, including wiping down tables and removing trash.
Act as Department representative to local residents, community groups, private businesses, and others concerning questions, problems, concerns, and activities in the provision of recreation programs and facility operations.
Transports participants from area schools to various District locations using CRPD provided vehicle.
Attend all trainings when provided.
Perform related duties as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Physical Demands and Working Environment: Environment: Work is performed in an outdoor/indoor work environment with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions; work at various locations throughout the District; may be required to work days, night, weekends and holidays.
Physical: Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an outdoor/indoor setting; to work outdoors in all types of weather and be able to withstand frequent exposure to hot, wet, and/or humid conditions; to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; use of standard office equipment; to push, pull, lift, and/or carry objects up to 20 pounds; to make frequent decisions and maintain concentration with distractions and remain calm in emergency situations; frequent public and coworker contact; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
