*The Lock & Key *is looking to grow their team by adding a motivated *Line / Prep Cook* who is organized and dedicated with a passion for food.
We are a lunch and dinner upscale restaurant & lounge on J street in Midtown that offers delicious cuisine.
Our ideal candidate is culinary trained with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a *Cook* in a high-volume kitchen.

The *Line/Prep Cook *supports the Executive Chef in preparation of meals, management of line staff, cooking, prep, ordering and inventory, and cleaning along with other duties associated with running a kitchen.
This is a full-time position.
*Our Focus:*
* Ability to read and manage food printer tickets and communicate orders with co-workers.
* Be organized and clean throughout the shift.
* Maintain safe food handling and proper sanitation of workspace.
* Reviewing menus and order lists and consulting with culinary leadership on the tasks for the day
* Preparing menu items, including proteins, using various methods such as slicing, carving, roasting, steaming, frying, marinating, grilling, sautéing, and braising
* Marinate, grill, roast, griddle and carve proteins.
* Handle, store and rotate all products properly.
* Prepares menu items following recipe and yield guides according to restaurant standards.
* Performing display cooking to customer order, plating according to established standards, and answering questions about ingredients, recipes, and pricing
* Be aware of any shortages and communicate with the Chef before items run out.
* Safely store food items at appropriate temperatures.
* Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus
*Requirements:*
* Strong culinary training (formal or informal)
* High School Diploma/ GED required
* 2 – 3 years of previous line experience is required.
* CA Food Handler’s card or must be completed within 30 days of hire
* Weekend days/nights and holiday availability required.
* Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs
