*Center Kitchen Staff*
Job Description
*Functions:*
The Kitchen Staff is responsible for all food service related duties in the Program.
These services include, but are not limited to, preparation of meals and snacks in alignment with Serv Safe food preparation protocols, food ordering, meal service, kitchen area sanitation, and collaboration with teaching staff on all aspects of food service and additional curriculum related cooking projects.
We try to introduce our students to new foods every week and utilize baby led weaning.
Staff must be willing to learn new fun ways to incorporate foods and keep things fresh, healthy and fun! The incumbent must be a positive role model and foster a positive work environment with all staff, students, and families and must ensure the health and safety of all members of the Program.
*Immediate Supervisor:* Responsible to the Program Director and Owner.
*Required Qualifications:* ● Up to date Serv Safe food service certification with at least 6 months advance on expiration.
● Minimum 2 years food service experience, preferably in an Early Childhood or other school related setting.
● Immunization Records - MMR, Tdap, and Flu shot required.
● Ability to read and write proficiently in English.
● Must be at least 18 years of age.
*Additional Qualifications*: ● Must have basic knowledge of food service and kitchen sanitation practices.
● Prefer incumbent has a working knowledge of USDA meal pattern requirements for student nutrition.
● Prefer incumbent has a working knowledge of child health & nutrition.
Request incumbent has or is willing to obtain 3 semester units in Early Childhood Health, Safety, and Nutrition course.
● Be a self starter and perform their job with little supervision, with fidelity and integrity.
● Possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
● Possess the ability to follow written and oral English directions.
● Must be customer service oriented; able to assist in guiding families to the appropriate person who may answer their questions or address their concerns.
● Must be honest, in good health, accurate, with neat appearance, and courteous manner.
● Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences.
● Must have a clean driving record and criminal background clearance.
● Must complete all clearances, forms, and tasks required to maintain licensing compliance.
● Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom.
● Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities.
● Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 40lbs.
● Be available to work as late as early at 6:00am and as late as 6:30pm, with occasional nights and weekends to support center events.
● Have reliable transportation.

*Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:* ● Create monthly menus for breakfast, am snack, lunch, and pm snack meals to be served to students, in alignment with the USDA regulations for child nutrition.
● Prepare and cook all meals and snacks in a timely manner and in alignment with all Serv Safe food service regulations.
● Keep the kitchen and all food service areas clean, sanitized, and disinfected as appropriate.
● Create and place food orders ● Create food related supply orders and maintain all necessary cooking equipment in good condition.
● Report any broken items that need to be repaired or replaced.
● Dispose of all trash into the dumpster on an as needed basis and at the end of shift.
● Provide any janitorial services needed to maintain a clean environment free of dirt and pests - such as, but not limited to sweep and washing the floors, wiping cabinets, microwave, stove and vents.
● Wash, dry, and put away all dishes associated with food service or curriculum cooking projects.
● Maintain all sharps in ● Professional dress commensurate with the type of work and in line with our dress code is required.
● Set a positive example for a strong, positive, team-oriented work environment.
● Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for children, staff, and families.

● Maintain open communication between TNT Kidz Center staff and management.
● Maintain a safe environment for children, staff, and families.
● Submit all written correspondence to the owner and lead staff for approval prior to distribution.
● Attend mandatory staff meetings.
● Maintain a positive and respectful attitude toward co-workers.
● Report any problems which arise with students, staff, or families to the program director or owner, if you are unable to solve the problem yourself.
● Responsible for all activity and room preparations for the program.
● Keep the program neat and orderly.
● Proactive response to any issues and concerns regarding the program.
● Other duties as assigned.
*Work Hours and Compensation:* The Kitchen Staff position at TNT Kidz Center is a part time or full time position, with flexible hours between 7:00am and 6:00pm Monday thru Friday.
Some weekends and after hours work may occur for meetings, professional development, to meet center business and licensing needs.
This position is paid every 5th and 20th of the month at an agreed salary.
The position is classified as a non-exempt hourly employee status and will be between 2 and 40 hours per week.
The hours worked on a daily basis may vary; a work schedule will be issued.
*Environmental Considerations:* ● May be exposed to all weather conditions and might be required to work in various temperatures within the facility and outside, as well as various weather conditions.
● May be required to lift up to 40lbs on a daily basis.
● Walking, jogging, and running on uneven surfaces such as (but not limited to) concrete, bark, grass, and sandy surfaces.
● Bending, stooping, lifting, twisting, turning.
● Wet slippery surfaces and floors, cleaning chemicals such as chlorine bleach, dish detergents, and more.
● May be exposed to health concerns such as blood borne pathogens, viruses, bacteria, and other harmful situations as may be present in a work environment with children, other adults, animals, and the outdoor environments.
Staff are required to follow all health and safety protocols to minimize risk of exposure and personal harm.
