General Duties/Description: Provide intervention to young children with autism, including direct work with the child, developing individualized materials used in therapy, assisting families in organizing therapy space and materials, and manage records and data collection.
Part-Time (estimated 20-25 hours per week) position requires flexibility in schedule, boundless energy, an outgoing nature, team spirit, and reliable transportation.
Due to the importance of this role in our client’s program, we request a minimum of a one-year commitment.
*Responsibilities*: IN-HOME: PROVIDE 1:1 INTERVENTION: Work 1:1 with children age 12-48 months.
Implement intervention protocols correctly.
Provide responsible, positive, sensitive child supervision and care, including physical care, during therapy.
Apply intervention principles in therapy; tailor procedures to fit a child's interests and needs.
Work under close supervision of doctoral and master's level project staff.
Travel to a child's home or preschool program daily.
Attend monthly supervision and clinic appointments as needed.
PRESCHOOL: INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT: The Instructional Assistant works as part of the classroom team to motivate students with autism (ages 12 -48 months) to learn while utilizing the methodology of the ESDM.
The Instructional Assistant provides assistance to the teacher by implementing small group teaching sessions and conducting individualized instruction, while following lesson plans and recording data.
Depending on each student’s individual needs, the Instructional Assistant may be required to assist in problem behavior reduction as well as assisting the students with toileting, feeding and other self help skills throughout the day.
DEVELOP MATERIALS: Create and produce picture cards, books, and other paper materials as needed for the child's therapy program.
Create and produce motivation charts, play materials, and other materials.
MANAGE RECORDS AND DATA COLLECTION: Organize and maintain computer and paper records of therapy.
Collect observational and parent/teacher report data.
*Requirements*: Two years of college-level course work in the human service field AND one year in related experience OR equivalent education/experience.
Excellent organizational skills; the ability to interact with parents, children, and professionals; and experience working with preschool-aged or young elementary children *Desirable:* Bachelor's degree in related field.
RBT Certification.
Training and experience in early intensive behavioral intervention (ABA-based) for children with autism, early intervention for toddlers, developmental psychology, behavior analysis, special education, or related fields.
*Special Skills & Requirements * · Part-time availability (20-25 hours per week) · Availability to work M-F in the mornings, afternoons, and early evening · Cell phone (unlimited data plan), device and or/ computer · Patience and creativity · Experience with children, preferably children with special needs · Ability to maintain composure under stress and take direction · Ability to record data while at the same time engaging client in activities · Willingness to commute at least 20 miles · Reliable transportation, current driver’s license and proof of auto insurance · Ability to pass a Department of Justice fingerprint screening · Must provide proof of a negative TB screening · Must provide proof of immunity to or immunization records for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella.
Recommended but not required: Hep B and Pertussis · Must pass Health Screening *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*: Duties include but are not limited to: · Implement a variety of instructional activities (designed by the teacher) to meet the student’s goals/objectives which are based upon their IEP · Accurately record data on student behavior, skills progression, student care and learning objectives · Implement behavioral support strategies, according to plans and procedures · Assist students in functional skills such as, toileting and mealtime routines · Effectively monitor behavior according to service plan · Maintain a clean and orderly learning environment · Interact with student using positive reinforcement and the least restrictive techniques to manage behavior · Participate in and monitor student during leisure time to ensure safety Job Type: Part-time Pay: $15.
