*Certified AOD Counselor Job Description*
This part-time role has the potential to move to full-time.
We are hiring a compassionate, diligent Certified AOD Counselor to join our dual-diagnosis detoxification and residential addiction medicine facility in a gorgeous mini-mansion in Folsom.
You will be working in conjunction with therapists, another Certified AOD Counselor, Mental Health Specialists, and medical staff overseen by a Program Director to implement treatment plans for patients with primary addiction diagnoses, providing them with the care, support, and monitoring they require.
Your primary role will be to facilitate groups with the 1-6 patients in the facility, with following documentation.
To be successful as our Certified AOD Counselor, you should be an excellent listener with a solid understanding of what it takes to treat or manage addiction and behavior disorders, and experienced in conducting group sessions.
Top candidates will also be sensitive, respectful, and personable when working with our patients.
*Certified AOD Counselor Shift Details:*
* Pay range is $28-$34/hour.
* Saturdays 9a-4:30p
* Sundays 9a-4:30p
* Mondays 12p-8:30p
* Tuesdays 11:30a-8p
*Certified AOD Counselor* *Responsibilities:*
* Report directly to the Lead AOD Counselor
* Facilitating groups with the 1-6 patients in the facility.
* Carrying out individual treatment plans prescribed by clinical and medical professionals.
* Monitoring patients and recording your observations.
* Reporting back on each patient's progress and concerns.
* Ensuring patients have a safe and supportive environment.
* Diffusing situations in which patients wish to harm themselves or others, either emotionally or physically.
* Providing emotional support to patients.
* Alerting clinical and medical professionals to intervene in emergencies.
* Carrying out documentation and other administrative tasks.
* Attending staff meetings as scheduled.
* Attending all trainings as scheduled.
* Remaining alert and awake throughout all shifts.
* Maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
*Certified AOD Counselor* *Requirements:*
* Current certification as an AOD Counselor.
* Experience working with addiction and those in recovery.
* Experience working in a mental health institution or psychiatric unit is preferred.
* Ability to treat patients with dignity and empathy.
* Strong listening and communication skills.
* Acute observation skills.
* Computer literacy.
* Ability to clearly establish and maintain boundaries and expectations.
