Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Mercy General Hospital was established over 100 years ago as Sacramento’s first hospital, and has been providing cardiac services for over 45 years.
The cardiovascular program is the largest service line in the hospital sustained by a pioneering spirit among an experienced and dedicated team of professionals.
The Cardiac Interventional Unit was created in the early 1990’s as a revolutionary way to care for post procedural cardiac interventional patients outside of the intensive care unit.
The Cardiac Interventional Unit (CIU) is a 32 bed high fast-paced post procedural care unit serving the high volume cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs.
CIU is an exciting place to work and demands a very high level of critical thinking, teamwork and organization.
The care delivered on CIU focuses on recovering high risk and complex percutaneous cardiac interventional patients and supports one of the busiest electrophysiology programs in the Western United States.
New procedures and technologies are consistently being adopted in both the Cardiac and Electrophysiology Labs which enhances the learning and cutting edge environment on this floor.
Many registered nurses are attracted to our unit for the high level of technical skills required for managing patients with sheaths, arrhythmias, and cardiac implantable devices.
The CIU professional nurse has extensive knowledge to care for patients undergoing a diverse range of cardiology and electrophysiology procedures.
You will be proud to join a team supporting nationally recognized programs at Mercy General Hospital which just received the Center of Excellence Award for best outcomes for the Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO) procedures.
