Sacramento Heart & Vascular Medical Associates is one of Northern California’s foremost specialty groups in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
We have an immediate opening for a full-time Medical Assistant, seeking employment in a fast-paced environment.
Proof of Covid-19 vaccination and booster is required.
This position works out of the main office (centrally located in Sacramento, CA) and may require travel to our other satellite clinic locations.
*Role and Responsibilities* The Medical Assistant will perform various office and clinical duties to keep our health care practice running efficiently.
You will work directly with clinic staff to collect test samples, maintain patient records, explain common medical procedures to patients and assist in basic examinations.
You will work both front and back office to provide you an opportunity to gain experience performing various duties a healthcare practice.
Strives to achieve excellence in patient care & satisfaction.
Should have knowledge of clinic operations & procedures; participates in quality assurance.
Follows clinic protocols according to established standards in accordance with Sacramento Heart & Vascular Medical Associates (SHVMA).
* Work at front or back desk.
* Answers, screens, and directs calls on multi-line phone system; takes detailed messages and/or forwards telephone calls to appropriate practitioner, * Voice mail or pager support as needed.
* Meets, and greets patients and visitors; announces, directs, and/or escorts to appropriate area.
* Schedules and reschedules patient appointments.
* Inputs patient information and demographics into computer system.
* Processes superbills for transfer to Billing Department.
* Checks voicemails and return calls within 2 hours.
* Assist Triage with refills and patient calls as necessary.
* Handles Holter and Event Monitors as required.
* Performs EKG’s and vitals as required.
* Interview patients and documents basic medical history.
* Assist during medical exams.
* Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
* Update and maintain all digital client’s records and assist in transitioning hard copy to digital format.
* Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
* Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services.
* Work in the front office taking care of task such as answering phone calls and greeting patients.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and other staff.
* Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
* Travel from main clinic to satellite clinics and available for occasional weekend work.
* Must have reliable transportation.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications and Education Requirements* * HS Diploma/GED and completion of Medical Assistant program (AAMA) preferred.
* Preferred 2 years’ experience as a medical assistant.
* Preferred 1 -2 years’ cardiology clinic experience.
* Medical Assistant certification (CCMA) required within 3 months of hire.
* Valid drivers license.
Reliable transportation.
* Completion of venipuncture class.
* Current CPR certification.
* Proficient with EMR systems, Data Repositories, and computer skills on an intermediate level.
* Ability to work in a fast-pace environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills * Strong organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task and maintain accuracy and productivity.
* Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software.
* Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures * Knowledge of the factors contributing to quality patient care, and the ability to influence these factors in a positive way.
* Knowledge of healthcare policies for all clinical practices and applicable laws and regulations governing proper clinical practice; ability to demonstrate ethical behavior in diverse situations.

* Bilingual is a plus.
*Working Conditions* Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medical preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
*Physical Requirements* Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
