Position Overview:
This position is available to work from home in the following states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Utah.
Coordinates, organizes and facilitates timely and accurate procurement, billing, storage, and distribution of medications and IV solutions.
In addition, coordinates and manages the 340B program in collaboration with the Sutter system 340B analysts.
Monitors the purchasing program for the pharmacy departments to assure contractual and regulatory compliance.
Functions as a Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist as needed.
Additionally, will participate in the training of new Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians on pharmacy operation pertinent to his/her expertise.
As a pharmacy buyer lead, you will ensure best practices for medication procurement are implemented in a standardized fashion across Sutter Health.
Buyer leads will review and update orders based on contract compliance, formulary alignment, and other standards.
Buyer leads will assist with optimizing inventory to minimize excess inventory, expired medications, and the impact of shortages across the system.
In addition to daily order review duties, buyer leads will be responsible for account maintenance and set-up, price leveling, drug shortage management, and other duties as assigned.
The ability to work cooperatively with a diverse, dispersed team is a must.
Buyer leads can work remotely in approved states in the Pacific, Mountain, or Central Time Zones, but may be required to travel to California occasionally based on business need.

Other: Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
PHRMTECHR-Registered Pharmacy Technician
OR PHARMC-Certified Pharmacy Technician
OR PHARMT-Pharmacy Technician
OR PHARMR-Registered Pharmacist
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
4 years of recent experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations and laws and regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.
Knowledge and ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications.
Knowledge of and the ability to carry out calculations for common dosage determination.
Knowledge and understanding of the identification of medications, medication dosages, routes of administration, dosage forms, and storage requirements.
Requires a basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Title XXII, United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
Computer literate in Microsoft Windows.
Ability to perform the manipulative and record keeping functions involved in procurement, stocking, packaging, and labeling of medication products.
May perform sterile parenteral procedures using proper aseptic technique.
Must have the skills to produce accurate work results within established timeframes.
Process/project management skills are required.
Ability to work independently with minimal/guidance and direction.

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location.
This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
