Ernst Reinhold Schmidt and his brother developed the workshop into one of the largest and most prolific German shops of the period.
His instruments won Gold Medals at the 1892 competition in Vienna and the 1913 competition in Leipzig.
- Signed label not the common Schmidt's standard label.
It may suggest it's a high quality instrument from his shop.
- Made probably in late 19th Century into the early 20th Century.
- Copy of Andreas Amati not Nicolaus Amati (more common)
- Beautiful two piece flamed maple back
- Signs of wear and scratches but I don't see any major damage.
- New professionally set up bridge
- Comes with a sturdy case
- Retail is around $5,000 to $7,000 and used market is about half of that so it's definitely reasonably priced especially compared to music stores or consignments.
Let me know if you find a better priced one then I will consider your offer.
- Sold as is.
