I am selling a Simplifier DLX pedal.
I bought used from reverb about a year ago and used it as my main amp on my pedal board until recently.
I started getting into ambient guitar and I encountered an issue with the effects loop that makes the pedal unusable with extreme reverb and delay settings.
It's too bad because everything else about this thing is great.
I believe this is a design flaw with the pedal and NOT a problem with my specific pedal.
See below for more details regarding this.
You really don't even need a reverb pedal as the built in ones are really nice for normal uses.
I absolutely love the amp and the cab sim and it plays great with all of my dirt pedals in a way that no other amp sim I can find does.
Comes with the foot switch for controlling the reverb and amp channels and the original cables.
The footswitch came without screws and I happen to have a few extra screws that fit so it is still missing two screws, but with just two the back plate stays on fine.
The issue with the effects loop: As I mentioned above, the effects loop has a problem with really long delays and reverbs.
Most reverbs and delays work fine in the effect loop but if you have a delay or reverb that is sufficiently long there is a feedback that can become audible and then turn into self oscillation.
I believe that this is a design issue and not an issue with my specific pedal.
I still feel it is important to mention this as I feel like if I knew there was an issue with the design that was incompatible with my use case, I would probably have seeked out a different solution and I want whoever buys this to be happy with it.
There are some threads on Reddit about this issue and one of the reddit posters said that his Sweetwater rep tested multiple demo units and they all exhibited this behavior.
Another post from an Empress employee confirmed that they have also had customers reach out with this issue on the Simplifier DLX.
So if it's not a design issue, it's definitely prevalent enough that if you plan to buy one of these, its likely to have this issue.
If you like to use a lot of delay and reverb in your effects loop, I would not only recommend you not buy my pedal, but I would steer clear of even a new Simplifier DLX.
If you have any other questions about the pedal please let me know.
If you want to test the pedal out, I have a battery powered pedal power supply so you can bring a guitar and a pair of headphones when we meet and you can play around with it.
Please email me with any questions or if you are interested.
Thanks!
