Why 'old'? Because we grew up with all those old tunes so loved by so many to this day.
And why 'select'? Well, why not, I say.
We've all been to jams where players seem to compete to see who's loudest, plays the most notes, or has the most 'challenging' (I say forgivingly) sense of time.
(And often all 3.
) Fun? Nope.
That's not us, of course.
We know less is more, and we try to support the person singing or taking a break.
And we know, --apart from the sheer joy involved--, that working up covers of mutually loved, well known tunes can teach valuable lessons.
Thus, not envisioning a backup group for personal compositions.
All non-amped instruments welcome.
