We are musicians and a retired couple, hoping to connect with other musicians in or near our age group who might want to get together during the day to start an informal, regular musical collective / get together.
Both of us have played in bands, and we still currently do, but for this we are hoping to find some intermediate to advanced level players we can hang out with for the music, with no serious agenda beyond making music that works and sounds good to us, and enjoying like-minded company while most people are at work.
Our primary instruments are drums and bass, so guitar, keys, horns, percussion, and other instruments could all find a place here.
There’s also the possibility of using this as a way to play secondary instruments, so maybe one of us will play keyboards, and maybe you are a drummer who wants to play guitar.
There are lots of possibilities, depending on who joins us on any given day.
Our musical interests are varied - we play rock covers and dabble in jazz.
We envision ourselves playing covers rather than writing in this situation - but don’t necessarily want to stick to the same music we’ve all be playing for decades, so a willingness to learn something new- or new to you- will be a bonus here.
The goal is mainly to have a fun activity we can participate in for laughter and friendship during the day, while making a reasonably good sound.
It’s possible that some sort of actual gigging band could eventually result from this, but that’s not the goal.
We do have a well-equipped rehearsal studio with PA and direct boxes.
All you need is yourself, your instrument, and guitarists might need to bring an amp.
We envision this as being an occasional but regular meetup whenever it is convenient.
